Michael Hodgson

B.Bus.Sc (Finance Honours and Accounting)

Michael began his working career as an equity analyst for Barnard, Jacobs Mellet (Securities) in 2008, covering SABMiller, Richemont, Remgro and BAT. Following a period as a professional triathlete and duathlete, Michael joined the global consultancy firm, Frost & Sullivan as an Account Executive to specifically focus on servicing their private equity and investment banking clients. In March 2012 he joined yellow goods supply and management firm Orimax Asset Management as the Business Development Manager.

Michael returned to the corporate finance arena in February 2014 and after periods at Bannister Capital and Merchantec Capital, he started his own corporate finance firm, Hodgson Capital, an independent advisory business that focusses on M&A (buy-side and sell-side), capital raising, valuations, strategy, restructuring and distressed M&A. During this period he also co-founded Wahi (https://wahi.co.za), a safe and convenient peer-to-peer marketplace for vacant space, both commercial and residential. Michael joined the team at Mettle Corporate Finance in July 2018.

Michael is a well-rounded corporate finance professional and has been fortunate to advise on a number of mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital raising, private equity transactions, restructurings and listings. He holds a B.Bus.Sc (Finance Honours and Accounting) degree from the University of Cape Town.
